John Mellencamp, legendary rock star, popularly known for his single Hurt So Good insists that "The Internet Destroyed The Music Industry".
The veteran rocker says, “I think the Internet is the most dangerous thing invented since the atomic bomb. It's destroyed the music business. It's going to destroy the movie business,”
I could agree on this matter but not the extend the way Mellencamp's describe its danger, not much as atomic bomb. It should be something in between though. For me, the Internet revolutionized our day to day communication into a simpler and wider coverage. As for entertainment industry, it may have affected it that much but it has opened an opportunity for small players.
Take it for example, Justin Bieber reached the global audience by posting his performances at Youtbe, same goes with Charice Pempengco (see Charice on Glee!), Arnel Pineda who landed to place of former Journey lead vocals Steve Perry. Those are just some celebrities which Internet have helped them reached their dreams.
