Sheryl rebuffed at White House dinner

Sheryl Crow landed in the hot seat with White House advisor Karl Rove this weekend when she tried to talk green policy at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night. Crow and Laurie David, an environmental activist and wife of Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David, took a break from their Stop Global Warming college tour to attend the event, and hoped Rove might take a "fresh look at the science of global warming," but to no avail. Rove "immediately got combative... Throwing a tantrum, Mr. Rove launched into a series of illogical arguments," David writes on thehuffingtonpost.com. "Sheryl reached out to touch his arm. Karl swung around and spat, 'Don't touch me.' Unfazed, Sheryl abruptly responded, 'You can't speak to us like that, you work for us.' Karl then quipped, 'I don't work for you, I work for the American people.' Sheryl promptly reminded him, 'We are the American people." Rove later spoke to the Washington Post of the incident, insisting David "came over to insult me and she succeeded." Ooh, what an encouraging exchange to happen on the eve of Earth Day.
